As a private individual I have done a lot of checking in to Zimbabwe Pensioners Support Fund (ZPSF) run by Hannes Botha. Some hard questions have been asked and despite what has been publicly bandied around on the internet recently I would encourage those of you who have not already made your own enquiries and decisions to support Hannes and the ZPSF in anyway you can. Hannes runs a good operation that is backed up by numerous reports out of Zimbabwe. He has registered the organisation as a Section 21 non-profit and this registration has been backed up with paper- has a certificate of registration. Hannes has had a number of others go with him on trips to Zimbabwe and they have made independent reports on what they have seen and what they have accomplished. All of them have been changed by this experience and have whole-heartedly supported what he is doing. Many of them are religious persons and that is because they can report back to congregations that are capable of assisting. God knows Zimbabwe could use some prayers right now. However the fact that he is doing excellent work should be the deciding factor for those of you who are sitting on the fence because it is a “religious thing”-in other words help him because it is the right thing to do. To get a truck of stuff into Zimbabwe has to be a miracle in itself and the fact that he does it over and over again is worthy of the highest praise. I personally (for whatever that is worth) have no hesitation in supporting Hannes and his efforts to help the pensioners and I strongly encourage you to do so. To those of you who are wary-you have a right to be so, but don’t destroy something that is good because you need extra proof of his credentials-seek them out yourself without blanket broadcasting unproven allegations on the internet. I would rather see us get on with helping these poor people rather than stabbing each other in the back. Feel free to contact me for further information if you have questions. Just remember our pensioners need us and those of us with the luxury of having a job can certainly consider helping-I was told that UKP100 per month would more than take care of a couple in Zimbabwe, but you couldn’t live on UKP100 a month in the UK. I am Chris Whitehead and my email is rhodesia@rhodesia.org if you want to contact me. Please note that this posting is my opinion and mine alone after careful consideration and research of ONE item only and that is the veracity of Hannes’ operation and ZPSF. How you help them is up to you and there are many ways to do so-just help him do what is right.
